Story
Morumbí is a single estate plantation located in the center of Colombia. The plantation spreads through 150 hectares of land, 50 of which are dedicated to cacao cultivation. The remaining 100 hectares are managed as an environmental protection area.
El Meta is the second department in Colombia with the highest deforestation rates. Morumbí contributes to the conservation of 100 hectares of primary forest inhabited by species such as anacondas, tapirs and sloths, as well as dozens of species of birds.
Additionally, Hacienda Morumbí has brought employment opportunities in an area greatly affected by internal conflict. The livelihoods of more than 30 families who are employed in the Hacienda have not only improved, but they now consider cacao cultivation as a pathway to maintain peace in Colombia.
