The Tree nuts trading department is a relevant player in the worldwide sourcing, shipping and distribution of almonds and hazelnuts with a highly skilled team of experienced professionals. We provide our partners with leading edge market intelligence with inside knowledge.

We supply every type and size of natural and processed hazelnuts and almonds. Our clientele stretches from the bakery & confectionary industry to the health food and snack industry.

A selection of our hazelnut origins

Turkey represents about 75% of the global production of hazelnuts. Other origins for hazelnuts are Italy, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Spain and Oregon (US). The most common Turkish hazelnut varieties/regions are Levant, Akcakoca and Giresun. Turkish hazelnuts are produced according to the Turkish Standards. These are different for natural and processed hazelnuts.

The main origin for almonds is California (USA), which represents about 80% of the global production. Other origins for almonds are Spain, Australia, Italy and Chile.

our specialisation within tree nuts

Our specialisation lies in delivering tree nuts according to the buyer’s custom specifications. Daarnhouwer has a strong focus on food-safety and quality throughout the entire supply chain. We therefore ensure that our products meet the foreign and domestic (EU) food safety regulatory requirements. We sample all incoming tree nuts and randomly select samples for analysis by independent accredited laboratories.

The contact with our origination partners is of major importance to us. We believe in long lasting business relationships. Frequent contact with and regular visits to the tree nuts productions sites are of vital importance. This helps us to stay abreast of the latest developments and verify the solidity of our supply chain. During these visits, we keep a close eye on all aspects that involve hygiene and food safety.
